Maruis von Mayenburg has been described as one of the “blood and vomit” generation of new European
playwrights. He was born in Munich in 1972. After
his HSC he studied Old German Language and Literature. In 1992 he moved
to Berlin. There he studied
Script writing at the Berlin College of Arts from 1994 to 1998. Between
1998 and 1999 he worked as dramaturg at the Barracks (The German Theatre).
Since 1999 he has been dramaturg at the Neue Schaubühne am Lehniner
Platz. In 1997 he received the Kleist Award and the Frankfurt Author’s
Foundation Award.

Fiona Churchill joined the Lieder Theatre in 1995 to play in Golden Valley. Since then she
has become a regular on the Lieder’s stage performing in The Farndale
Murder Mystery, Oliver, Hamlet, Blackrock,
Under Milk Wood, Cosi, Habeas Corpus, Sylvia and On the Bridge to
name some of her favourites. Last year Fiona performed in Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean,
Jimmy Dean and Minefields and Miniskirts. This year
she has so far performed in Inheritance
and Blithe Spirit, and is in rehearsal for our final mainstage
production this year The ODD Couple (Female Version).
Fiona is currently on the Lieder Board of Management coordinating charity
nights for the mainstage.
Brian
Hill began his performing career with the Goulburn G and
S Society before joining the Lieder to play in Dick Whittington and John Spicer’s 1975 production of Hamlet.
In 1978 he moved to Sydney and did “voice
over” for use in CD-ROMs and Web pages as well as recording Social History
programs for School of the Air and Distance Education. He worked as
assistant Stage manger for the 2000 Olympic Volunteer Training Program
and in 2003 won a TAFE Excellence Award as Assistant stage manager for
the TAFE Quality Awards. In 2003 he created graphics for the Multimedia
presentation at Sydney Theatre Companies Wharf Revue. Since moving back
to Goulburn Brian has worked backstage on A Month of Sundays, and
Ubu,
and performed in Old Time Musical, The Ballad of Mary Ann Brownlow
Babes in the Wood, Inheritance and Treasure Island. Brian is currently
President on the Lieder Board of Management.
Ellie McMahon has been involved in the Lieder
since 2002, but this is her first major part in a play at the Theatre.
She is currently on the Board of Management representing the Youth Theatre
Company and as membership officer. Ellie is one of our mentorees working
behind the scenes on Blithe Spirit, Treasure
Island, Cop
This, The Ballad of Mary Ann Brownlow and soon
to be The Odd Couple. Before spending a year in Sweden
on exchange she was involved backstage in Pinocchio and
Habeas Corpus and on stage as part of the youth theatre’s
program in I=CAN, The Vision of Delight and 2 Friendly
4 Words. This year Ellie has performed in both the Acrobatic
Fire Shows and assisted in the coordination and presentation
of Exchange & Change – the 2nd Gathering of Regional
Youth Theatre People.
Joshua Phillips was last on stage in Treasure Island. He has been part
of the Company since 2000 after attending circus and acrobatics workshops.
At the Lieder Josh has been an actor, clown, fire-twirler, acrobat,
Morris dancer, stilt-walker, set designer, construction assistant
and tutor. On stage Joshua has performed in Gathering the Dust, Oliver
Twist, Hamlet Once a Catholic, The
Beauty Queen of Leenane, Away, Babes in the Wood,
The
Man Who and La Dispute. For the Lieder Youth Theatre Company he has performed
in Hot Air, Body Slam, I=CAN, Lost
on the Lake, The Vision of Delight, Forks’n
All, 2 Friendly 4 Words, UBU, Dead One Done and all the Acrobatic
Fire Shows. Josh is currently studying at Canberra School of
Art.
Josh Waters is a relative new comer to
the Lieder stage arriving last year to perform in Away
followed by Hating Alison Ashley and The Ballad
of Mary Ann Brownlow. He moved to Goulburn from Sydney and
studied drama in year 11and 12 at Goulburn High. In February last year
he performed with the Lieder Youth Theatre Company in their Acrobatic Fire Show for
the Blues Festival in Belmore Park, and
did it again this year as well. Also last year he co devised and performed
in Dead One Done and the mainstage
Christmas play Babes in the Wood. This year he has commenced
a mentorship with the Lieder and performed in Inheritance, Cop
This and Treasure
Island.
